Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

1.  How long does the appointment take?

Allow 45 minutes.  This includes set up, preparation, your consultation, spray tanning, & clean up.

2.  Do I have to be naked?  No (unless you want to be!)
Females: As long as you're comfortable, we're comfortable.
Males: Boxers or swim wear is acceptable.

3.  Will it leave a mess in my house?  No
We bring a portable tanning tent and an extraction fan, which makes it easy for us to spray tan you in any room.... a master bathroom, bedroom, even the kitchen. We also ensure your solution has dried before you step out to avoid immediate transfer of solution.

4.  Will my skin look orange?  No

The advanced technology currently used in sunless tanning solutions is designed to ensure a natural, bronze tan.

5.  How do I avoid my hands and feet being so splotchy?
We supply a barrier lotion to the culprit areas which are prone to this issue.

6.  Will my hair color change?  No
We take extra care to avoid your hair, but for extra caution, we provide you a hair net if needed.

7.  What kinds of clothes to you recommend wearing after?
We recommend wearing loose dark clothing after your tan along with flip flops. Solution which is transferred onto clothing is typically machine washable.

8.  How soon can I shower?
It is advised to wait at least 8 hours* before "rinsing" and 24 hours before "showering" using a gentle soap and lukewarm water.  This gives the tan enough time to develop. Keeping the solution on beyond 8 hours will not make you any darker. Solution is designed to develop to optimum color and nothing will happen beyond that time.

* Rapid solution can be rinsed off after 2 hours.

9.  Can I still workout?  Yes
However, avoid doing so until your tan is fully developed.  Also, be aware that excessive sweat, chlorine, oils and exfoliating will reduce the life of your tan.

10.  What if I get into a pool?
Repeated exposure to chlorine will reduce the life of your tan.  However, your tan will NOT start to “run” while you are in the pool.

11.  How long will my spray tan last?
Every individual is different and a spray tan's duration can vary depending on your skin type, daily habits and lifestyle. Typically, spray tans last an average of 7 to 10 days, potentially longer with good maintenance.

12.  Any maintenance suggested to make it last longer?  Yes
Please refer to our pre-tan preparation and post-tan care info when you book your appointment.

13.  How does it work?
Spray tanning is accomplished by application of a solution containing the active ingredient: DHA (Dihydroxyacetone). DHA causes a chemical reaction with the amino acids on the outer most layer of the skin.  This reaction causes the color of the skin to change, producing a beautiful, natural-looking tan.

14.  Can a spray tan be removed?
The color produced by a tan does not wash off; it simply fades as the upper layers of the epidermis wear away. If, for any reason, you wish to reduce the life of your tan, applying an exfoliating product to the skin can speed up the process. We recommend Tan Erase.

15.  Will a spray tan protect me from the sun?  No

A spray tan will NOT protect your skin from the sun, so be sure to always use a sunscreen with SPF 30 or more.
